Driveways are filling up as more and more households have more than one car.

If your household has only one car, you are actually part of a minority group according to the insurer Direct Line in a recent survey. Around 70% of motoring households currently have more than one car.  With us seeing more and more people living with their parents into their 20s we could see this increase even further in the future.

Out of direct lines 3.7m car insurance policies, they found that just one in three households owned a single car. According to a recent article in the Guardian .

Recently, we expanded a driveway for a customer who wanted parking for another 3 cars. They had put their property on the market to sell for 4 months, then decided to stay. During that time the viewers which came through the door all said they would make the bottom of the garden into another drive. This gave the owners the idea to stay in their home and spend the money they would have spent in Estate agency fees moving on a new driveway.

They informed us that one person had even turned around and said they need parking for 6 cars. Therefore the property was no good to them. The property with the changes now can accommodate 7 cars at a push. It just shows how thinking the project out and looking at options for your land can make all the difference.
