Permeable Driveways

Something often overlooked when it comes to installing driveways, is there are certain instances where you will need planning permission.  Back in October 2008 new rules came in for house owners who wanted to pave front gardens and convert them into driveways for cars.  However, you do not need planning permission if the driveway installed uses permeable surfacing which allows the water to drain through it. Permeable concrete block paving, gravel or other substances for example porous asphalt.  There are other instances where you may not need planning permission. For example if the water is directed onto a lawn to drain naturally. It is always best to check with us at our site survey and we can help advise on this. Alternatively contact your local authority.
